Up
Up is a 2009 American 3D computer-animated comedy-adventure film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The film tells the story of an old man named Carl Fredricksen, who fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of helium balloons to his house and flies away to South America.
With the help of a young boy named Russell, Carl meets a variety of jungle animals, including a talking dog named Dug who helps him find his way back home. Up was directed by Pete Docter, co-directed by Bob Peterson, and produced by Jonas Rivera.
Up was released on May 29, 2009, and opened the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first animated and 3D film to do so. The film was also nominated for ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won two, for Best Original Score and Best Animated Feature Film.
